The same 4-cylinder, 16-valve 2.4-liter DOHC engine that powered the Grand Vitara was found under the hood. The revised 2393cc VVT motor, on the other hand, produced 176bhp and 23.4kgm of maximum torque, a marginal improvement over the Vitara's power ratings. The Kizashi was also equipped with a number of safety features, including ABS with EBD, ESP, hill assist, pre-tensioner seat belts, engine immobiliser, lane change indicators, dual front airbags, front seat side airbags, and front and rear curtain airbags.
