A 1,991cc four-cylinder petrol engine with 194 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque powers the E200, while a 1,950cc four- cylinder diesel engine with 192 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque powers the E200d. Lastly, the 2,925cc inline six- cylinder diesel engine found in the AMG Line E350d model produces 282bhp and 600Nm of torque. An automated transmission called the 9G-TRONIC is mated to all three engines. The E-class’s handling is competent but not sporty because it is a vehicle geared more toward comfort. When pushed hard, it leans in awkward places but rarely seems overpowered. The E- class is ideal for savouring many roads, and the ride is smooth in Comfort mode. It glides over cracks in the pavement while only barely letting the cabin know about these annoying things. The steering is pleasantly weighted—not too light, nor too heavy—and feels accurate when the drive-mode choice is set to Comfort or Eco.
