The Alturas G4 measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,845 mm in height. We know the Alturas G4 isn't a small suv because it's nearly 5 metres long. A 2,157 cc four- cylinder turbocharged diesel engine produces 181 PS at 4000 rpm and 420 Nm between 1,600 and 2,600 rpm, powers this SUV. The engine is refined, and only a slight clatter penetrates the cabin at idling. The car pulls neatly between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm, although power delivery is hesitant at first. 
 The Mercedes-Benz seven-speed automatic transmission isn't the fastest, but it does a good job of keeping the engine in its power-band. At city speeds, the gears are well spaced. The Alturas G4 also comes with a low-range four-wheel drive system. To switch between these and the normal 2WD mode on the fly, a rotary dial has been provided.
The first two rows of the Alturas have plenty of legroom. The second has enough room for three medium-sized adults to sit comfortably, and legroom is not an issue. The third row should be reserved for children. It's tough to get into; the centre row must be folded in two steps, and the high floor makes for unpleasant seating. When it comes to safety, the Mahindra leaves little to be desired. There are nine airbags in total, including front, side, and curtain. At this price point, you can expect to find every conceivable safety aid. Hill start aid and hill descent control are included, as well as ESP, traction control, a rollover mitigation function, an emergency brake signal, and a rollover mitigation function. 
 The eight-inch display controls the six-speaker audio system, which is compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The Alturas gets a segment-first 360-degree camera, with a high- quality feed. The cabin has a high-end feel to it. The top of the dash is made of grey soft-touch plastic, and the dark imitation wood, as well as the tan leather quilting that complements the seats, feels good. With their alternating metallic or piano black finishes, the buttons are also pleasant to use.
